Lip Blushing Information

What is Lip Blushing:

It is a lip tattoo that enhances and defines your lips. It can help enhance and even out natural color, or add color if you are lacking any pigment. Your lips will look darker and more like lipstick on the first day, and soften as they heal to become a subtle, natural looking lip tint. Apply a little gloss or balm and your lips are perfectly kissable!

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY LIP BLUSHING SESSION? BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT:

  • Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oils, vitamin E, niacin, or drink excessive alcohol at least 48 hours prior to and after your procedure.

  • Do not take any prescription blood thinners at least 48 hours prior to and after your procedure.

  • Discontinue any vitamin A skin care products (Retin-A, retinols) close to the enhancement area at least two weeks prior to your procedure. **I recommend NOT using these products over or around the tattooed area after you receive your cosmetic tattoo. It could cause fading and distortion of color.**

  • Discontinue use of AHA (chemical exfoliation) skin care products close to the area to be tattooed at least one week prior to your procedure.

  • No laser or electrolysis on or around the treatment area one week prior to procedure.

  • No Botox or fillers in the procedure area less than one week prior.

  • Plan trips or events a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.

  • Do not have any chemical peels, dermabrasions, mesotherapy, or any other intense treatments which will cause faster skin cell rejuvenating and cause skin irritation 3-4 weeks before procedure.

  • If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

  • It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your booking fee. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

  • Bring in your favorite lip color if you have a specific color your wanting to achieve

  • COLD SORE PRONE!! TAKE ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATION AND IMMUNE BOOSTING SUPPLEMENTS TO AVOID A COLD SORE BREAKOUT 5 DAYS PRIOR TATTOO, THE DAY OF AND 5 DAYS AFTER TATTOO.

  • If you have existing cosmetic tattooing you need to contact me BEFORE booking your appointment.

What’s normal?

-Mild swelling, itching, light scabbing, light bruising and dry tightness. Icepacks are a nice relief for swelling and bruising. Aftercare balm is nice for scabbing and tightness.

-Too dark and slightly uneven appearance. After 2-‐7 days the darkness will fade and once swelling dissipates unevenness usually disappears. If they are too dark or still a bit uneven after 6 weeks then we will make adjustments during the touchup appointment.

-Color change or color loss. As the procedure area heals the color will lighten and sometimes seem to disappear. Give it some time as your body is healing and most of the color will reappear. All concerns can be addressed during the touch up appointment and which is why the touchup is necessary. For color correction work in some cases pigmentation/darkness of color and lip may occur do not be alarmed as this is apart of the healing process for some people as your body heals the discoloration that forms will correct itself 5-6 weeks post service. The procedure has to be completely healed before we can address any concerns. This takes about six weeks.

A Third touch up for some people is completely normal. It is 100 percent up to you if you want to do so unless recommended by technician.

-Every ones retention of how well they keep color is different. Although it is my goal to perfect them at your 2nd session, we cannot predict how much color you will keep based on how your body heals and external factors that cause fading.

FIRST MAGE: IS A GENERAL GUIDE OF THE HEALING PROCESS AND CHANGE IN COLOR TONE.

SECOND IMAGE: GENERAL HEALING PROCESS FOR MOST MELANIN RICH/HYPERPIGMENTED LIPS IT IS NORMAL IN THESE CASES FOR LIPS TO TURN DARKER OR TO A PURPLE/BLUE TONE FOR A FEW WEEKS, IT IS APART OF HOW THE BODY IS HEALING, THE PIGMENTATION WILL GO AWAY AND NORMAL COLOR WILL REAPPEAR .

FOR LIPS A SECOND SESSION IS 100% NEEDED TO BUILD THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF COLOR. DO NOT SKIP YOUR TOUCH UP, YOUR LIPS ARE NOT DONE WITHOUT IT.

After Care Instructions: LIP BLUSHING

Aftercare is very important in order to achieve a beautiful and lasting result. PLEASE READ ALL

PLEASE NOTE: Lips will appear darker, bolder and brighter due to natural scabbing and healing for the first 10 days. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures.

Swelling and redness is minimal with most clients, and will disappear within 24-28 hours. In some cases it may last around 3 days, but will now prevent working or socializing. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards but there should only be minimal discomfort.

NO water, cleansers, creams, makeup on lips or any other products on treated area for 10 days. You may shower normally just avoid the brow area.

4-5 hours after the procedure, clean the area with sterile water and a cotton pad, gauze or q-tip and allow to air dry and apply a very small amount of the provided ointment

ONLY APPLY A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF THE PROVIDED OINTMENT AS NEEDED DURING THE DAY TO KEEP LIPS HYDRATED.  YOU MAY USE THE OINTMENT FOR THE FIRST 7 TO 14 DAYS.

Always wash hands thoroughly before touching the tattooed area.

DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and premature pigment loss. IMPORTANT: ONCE THE FLAKES HAVE FALLEN OFF, A SHINY LAYER OF HEALING SKIN WILL COMPLETELY COVER YOUR LIPS. IT WILL APPEAR AS THOUGH THE COLOR IS GONE. WITHIN 1-2 WEEKS, THE COLOR WILL SLOWLY REAPPEAR AT A LIGHTER SHADE AS YOUR SKIN REGENERATES.

Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after procedure.

NO facials, botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

CONTINUE TO TAKE IMMUNE BOOSTING SUPPLEMENTS AND/OR ANTI-VIRAL MEDICATIONS TO HELP LIMIT ANY COLD SORE OUTBREAKS, THE DAY OF THE TATTOO AND UP TO 5 DAYS AFTER.

The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost. As your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength and it is only after 6 weeks that your touch up/ adjustments can be done. Keep in mind that lip blushing can heal up to 30-50% softer than the initial color

Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow up appointment

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS:

If you are prone to cold sores, lip tattooing CAN cause outbreaks, which can result in loss of pigment. We ask that our clients take their prescribed anti-viral medication starting 3-5 days prior to their appointment and after the procedure to prevent outbreak. You can still have lip blushing done!!! We just want to ensure you get the best results possible. Consult with your doctor for any additional questions. If you have an outbreak, or any other type of scratch/acne we ask that you reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. If you show up with any type of outbreak your appointment is considered cancel and you forfeit your deposit.

COVID-19 WARNING for permanent makeup services we do ask to be on the safer side that you wait at least 2 weeks post your second vaccine or have/had the service done at least 2 weeks before the vaccine. There have been some reports that the vaccine too close to your service can cause extra extreme swelling that may lead to urgent care to treat.
